Well, I was warned but it still didn't prepare me for the smell. I had to take a break after cutting a small piece and trueing up the end with a disc sander. Even with wearing my mask! Not complaing L6, but bleh!

Can anyone tell me what is good to seal and finish a small piece? I'm using this as a large spacer for a pen I'm making. A bit of CA glue work? Thanks.

you can use the glue or stabilize it or
from time to time soak it in mineral oil for 1 or 2 days

that stuff smells great while grinding what do you mean ??:D

Well, I buggered it up anyhow. Heated it a bit much sanding it flush to the wood blank and split it, CA'd the cracks but it's to obvious. So I'm going to put the Ivory to the side for now. I think my nose rebelled and took control of me and made me sand it for to long ;) I think I'll switch over to some pink ivory as a replacement, heh heh. -MJ

"I love the smell of ivory in the morning........smells like a million...!"

Actually I don´t mind the smell.....don´t get it hot though...then it smells like crap and you will ruin the piece!
