Here is a new one from Matt Overall length is 15-1/4", blade is 10" x 1-3/4" x 1/4"+ at ricasso. 1095 blade, left some forge texturing on the ricasso. Matt and I talked about this blade awhile back and it is finally done. I sent him one of my studs to finish to match blade. They are on ther way to Paul Long today and I am very excited about this project. Matt does some awesome work and I know this blade will perform. He says it is fast in the hand and balances great. I think Matt's work is fantastic and he is really going somewhere and I am very pleased to get this piece from him. Along with a Paul long sheath this should make a dynamite carry package and I will post more pics when I get the whole package back from Paul. thanks for looking

Very nice. One could easily determine that you have a liking for a particular size and style of knife:D

Joe I have alot of knives but I have grown to like 3 inch capers for skinning and 9 to 10 inch bowies for everything else. Prefer forged pieces over stock removal. I used to be in to Japanese style blades and have a large collection from Katana down to kozuka but even though I still admire them I have enough and have gotten away from aquireing new one's unless it is something really special. I do not like folders and only carry them rarely have had locks fail and cut me more than once.

Hey Matt.......are you going to be at Batson's? if so, I plann to take you hostage and refuse to release you until your family sends me a copy of your super secret hamon recipe:D

I have to work on the smaller sized blades. My attempts at 3-3 1/2 inch blades always seem to end up as 4+ inchers.

cool knife, but you would think that Lamey guy would learn to heat treat and not leave that very cool and overly active line on the blade:p

Matt,
Time to give me some more pointers, like you did back at the Gulfport show, when I'd just started. Joe and I can hold you down at Batson till you teach us both to at least try for such cool blades.
John

Coolness! The black micarta handle with that fluted black and silver stud will look great! Can't wait to see the Long sheath. I want one too!

Thanks so much for the kind words. Joe & John, I will be at Batsons, be happy to trade "secrets".

If I were buying a forged bowie for hard use, Matt Lamey is one of a handful of makers who I would turn too. The guys with the gold pins, blue giraffe bone and mokume finials got nothing on him in the performance arena :)
