Hi,

I found another old knife that I would like to put a nice lanyard on like all my MT's, but I can't seem to be able to find that special black cord.

Any advice on where to find it?

tia,

I recently went through a similar search. What finally worked best for me was a round shoelace. Go figure...

If you find something that works well for you please post it here.

I find that 550 is ok for fobs, but 3mm Utility cord is much much better.

550 tends to try and go flat where as the 3mm will stay round, allowing you to get your knot tighter while still keeping it looking nice. The 3mm will also be available in many other colors, from solid black to multi colored red's and yellow's.

The one slight downfall is that you dont have the "spring" in the 3mm cord that the 550 does. That works well for me, but some people I have tied a fob for miss the "spring" so I cut it off and do it with the 550.

Do yourself a favor and try out the 3mm and see how you like it.

You can get the 3mm at most climbing stores if you have one in town try Sports Chalet. Also REI has it on the net.
