I KNOW I KNOW This belongs in the GB&U forum, but I thought that more people that buy his kind of knife would see this here.

I wanted to let you know about an experience that i just had with MR. CHEW,
i picked up a spawn of cujo (or something like that) in a trade i was at least the third person to own this knife however when i got it, it was MINT, NIB, after a few weeks of flicking the knife open a hundred times a day the liner became loose and the blade kind of wobbled, i called Larry and told him i was going to be in his area this coming week and i wanted to know if he could look at it, he said sure, here's my CELL phone just call me when your in the area. A few days later at dinner time 6:00 PM i called him on his cell and he told me to come on by, I said since it's dinner time can i invite you and your wife to dinner, he said no thank you just come on by well chat and I'll kick ya out in a while, I got to his home, walked into his shop and he took the knife and said NO PROBLEM this will just take a second, well after about an hour and he finally got the lock to a point the HE liked, he sharpened the blade, adjusted the clip, cleaned it up, allowed me to PLAY with a COVERT Auto,(of course he got a new order for one

) I asked what I owe for the tune up, he said NOTHING the SERVICE comes with the PRIDE of OWNERSHIP (Damn I thought I'm the third owner of this knife, he didn't make a cent from ME) this man was a true gentleman, and a true craftsman. I can't wait till I get my covert from him.

I met Larry at the Oregon Knife Show in Eugene,Oregon, and was lucky to pick up one of his D/A Covert/Spitfires before anyone else had a chance. He was just setting up when I approached his table.
I got the 4" 440-V, carbon fibred handled model, and what a superb knife.
He was great to talk to, and explained all the makings of the knife.
He said it is warranted for life no matter who ends up with it(I will have it as long as I live though).
I will definently buy from him again.

Jusr my .02 cents on a fine custom knifemaker.

Great story, Gregg. Working with Mr. Chew is indeed a pleasure. Enjoy the knife.

Larry Chew is by far one of the most customer oriented knife makers that I have had the pleasure of dealing with both as a customer and a student, I have seen him spend 2 hrs fine tuning a knife just to make it perfect.
I admire and respect him for his dedication to quality and customer satisfaction, such qualitys are prevelant in the knife community but he takes it to the next level.

I have never handled one of Larry's knives, but after reading the great things people have posted about him and his knives I have ordered a covert spitfire from him.
I have spoken with him several times about by order by phone and can attest to his genuine interest in making sure his customers are happy.
I can't recommmend him highly enough.
