Larry Ramey titanium knives?

I have one of the original knives he made when his company went by the name River Rat Knife Company. It is a smallish cord-wrapped Ti bladed knife. It is very thin and light, and the Ti actually takes a decent edge (can scrape hair off arm). I love the shape of the blade (drop point with good amount of belly) and the thinness. Makes a nice apple or orange slicer. I occasionally carry mine with the blade in my wallet, and handle peeking out of back pocket. Quick to access. Only problem I've had is the sheath/clip thingy. The metal clip scratches the blade on one side. He's gotten much better at the sheaths, though. I say check him out on Ebay and get a nice little keychain knife, or something bigger. Great little knives for the price.

Mr.Z,
His ad in TK must have caught your eye as it did mine. My concern was getting the Ti to take/keep an edge. Can anyone chime in on this?

Have you seen the Larry Ramey Knives website?

Oops! Edit to answer bloodnut:

Titanium will not hold an edge like steel. You can get a good edge but it will degrade pretty quickly. As an undercover self-defense item, it is lightweight, unobtrusive, and will not corrode. Fine for jogging in the park at night ( ) or last-ditch backup. Not bad as a diving knife, especially with serrations to help cutting lines.

You will not shave with it in the morning.

I bought six of his keychain knives for $50. It was a decent deal, I guess, for a bunch of knives that I could give to family and friends and stuff.

The kydex sheath is cool, and the micarta handle scales are actually better that expected for such cheap knives.
The edge itself was relatively un-sharp, and I haven't worked real hard to get it sharp. I use the knife on my keychain for letter-opening and little to nothing else.

...time lapse...

While I pondered sending this post, I took out my Ramey keychain knife and put a bit of an edge on it with a DMT dia-sharp. I'm not gonna bother working it over on my Profile. For now, I guess it would be an okay "absolute last-ditch" knife.
