Howdy-

I've developed a crush on the Laser Strike, enough to start thinking about having a custom guy make me a rough copy of the original. Texas Tony tells me that RAT cutlery is planning on releasing that design in normal production later this year.

Is the production of the Laser Strike a definite?

Is there a chance of a rough timeline for it's introduction? (End of this year, more than 1 year, etc)?

Lastly, anyone got an in-hand pic of the Laser Strike? :D

Thanks for any info-

Spooky, we're looking at eventually introducing all of our designs through RAT Cutlery, to include the RTAK, TAK, RAT-5, RAT-7, Model 1, RAT, and Laser Strike. The Laser Strike was produced by TOPS knives. I would like to talk to Mike Fuller at TOPS before making a definite statement since we would like for them to produce it again. If he doesn't want to do that in a joint effort between TOPS and RAT then we may go straight to Rowen with it and do it ourselves, but we 're not sure of timelines right now. With that said, since we discontinued the Laser Strike, TOPS has a very similar knife to it and you may want to look at buying that for now. Great design for the woods or weeds. ;)

Not trying to be lazy, but do you know what model that is from TOPS?

I've been browsing their page but didn't locate it on my first run. I don't have any of the details/specs of the original to compare.

I'd take a guess that it's the Black Star

Similar setup, but with the false edge at top and without that fire drill spot.

Problem with 'false edge backed blades for bushcraft is they don't baton very well due to chewing up the splitter head IME.

yeah that is as close as you are going to get,I asked TOPS about that LS blade about 4 months ago and I was told outta of production ,no longer being made nor were plans on it and the black star was as close as your gonna get to it
