I have a model #14 attack that I purchased in 1968 the blade is marked soligen and has two small knives on each as well as randal made on it. this knife served me allthrough atour RVN as a squad ldr in the 9th inf . div. does any out there own one of thes knives or know anything about them ? mjmcdowell

The Model 14 "Attack" and the Model 18 "Attack-Survival" were the most popular Randalls used during that war. If you have the original riveted sheath, your knife is quite valuable in excess of $1,000.00. If your knife handle is a funky looking green plastic, it is worth several times that. Thanks for your reply , My knife was verey hard use tool in a very harsh environment , the mekong delta. It was wet most all of the time so you know what that means , the blade acquired a brownish and slightly pitted condition but the edge wae kept very sharp for obvious reasons. The sheath suffered some also as I had no conditioner for it. I changed out the original stone in the sheath pocket { if it came with one, i don't remember now } and put the fine stone from a buck honing kit that my father sent me . I made a sort of frog for the sheath that would snap on to my web gear pistol belt and there she rode for my tour, I dug with her, cut wire wraping on c -rations and steel bands plus canvas webbing, etc, etc. never had to use her in combat thank god but always felt good having her by my side night and day yes the sheath is the rivited one with lashing holes in the belt loop and a tie down tab with two holes at the tip of the sheath. she now resides in the safe and reminds me of along time ago in the "land of winkin an blinkin an nod" mjmcdowell

I too carried a Model #14 Randall in Nam, from 66-67-68, and used and abused it on a daily bases. I paid $35.00 for it, and now with good US Service in Nam documentation, the War Knife Collectors will pay about $1500.00 for it. You will need to show some strong documentation that you were there and so was the knife. Photos of you with it, your DD214 showing areas of service with any awards etc.
Because Bo Randall did not want any service man going to Nam to have to wait the 1 1/2 years to get one of his knives, he had some Soligan blades made in Germany, and built those for us, that wanted one ASAP. That's why it is marked Soligan on the blade.
I respected my Randall Made so much that it started me on the road to becoming a Custom Knifemaker. It is the only knife, that I would enter a burning building to save!!
Best Regards,
