Got my Black Leather Howler Sheath today. All I can say is that I'm very happy with it, great job Mike. :D:D

The Black is a perfect color for this knife and this size knife works great in a canted sheath.

I'm very glad I got in touch with Mike.

very nice Eric!!!!! Can not wait to get mine....my rats are being delivered in 45 mins.....a day off......and the sun is out - you bloody ripper mate!:D

Excellent work Mike!!!

I agree wholeheartedly with Eric. Mike's work is awsome!
I received my sheath on 9.21.02 and was very pleased.
I went with the standard design like Mike posted here. The fit and finish are very good. Mike's attention to detail and use of quality materials creates a home for your Rat that, with proper maintinance, could very well last the life of your Rat.
The ride of the sheath is just right. The loop is ~2" and my belts are 1-1/4 to 1-1/2, allowing for a bit of play. By pushing the tip of the sheath forward just a bit, I was able to sit comfortably in chairs and my car. This play is barely noticeable during the draw.
The Rat Tongue is a great addition. It comes between the edge and the keeper strap, and allows for one-handed re-sheathing without fear of slicing off the keeper strap.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend MtMike to anyone who is thinking of wrapping their Rat in leather. If fact, I'm already planning to send him a few relatives of the Rat (Busse BAgIII, GM & PD) for some new skins.

Aw shucks, golly guys -- thanks for the nice words. This whole Rat Sheath thing started with a simple good-natured gig at one of the kydex guys, and now it's almost a Rat Rebellion! The message to me is the same as the SRKW philosophy -- give everybody an option, keep it simple, tough, and well made. If it happens not to break the eyeballs to look at, that's good too, and I also tried to keep the cost reasonable. Now if I can just keep on delivery schedule!!
Drew, Eric -- glad you guys like the sheaths, hope they give you years of satisfaction.
More are in the mail, and a few are sitting next to me on my bench waiting for this and that.
Mike
:D :D

Nice and clean there Mike! And that knife, way cool, very very useful looking, I need to look into one of those! ;)

Thanks Gary, and thanks for the help in getting started in the leather for steel biz. Right now I'm looking across my little "shop" at sheaths for 3 Rats and 3 Busses, ready for shipping Monday. I really thought that black would be the preferred order, but it turns out most want the natural leather look. My congratulations to the King Rats for offering the Bandicoot in a leather sheath :D
And yes, you definitely need to check out the Rats -- I have the Tramp and the Howler, and I'd say useful is an understatement!
Mike:D :D
