Guys,
I couldn't find it on their site. Which (if any) of their products are made overseas?

I need a replacement for the one that I just lost after having it for almost 20 years. Thinking about a CRKT since it will fit my current needs a bit better. However, I know their tool is made in china and hate buying their stuff if possible.

Thanks!

So far; none.

All Leatherman tools are "made" in Oregon. Some parts do come from elsewhere though, IIRC the plier heads are cast in Mexico and finished in Oregon, the files come from Austria.

The sheaths are from China as well as the bit holder but I am unsure where the actual bits come from.

Here's a link with a little bit more info:Link

And here's a link to a thread by one poster who went on the factory tour:Link.

FYI: Any discontinued Leatherman tool can easily be found on eBay. Good condition PST and PST II models general go for sub-$30 prices if those are the ones you're after.

Guys,
Thanks. Looking at their Skeletool (sp), need something light that I can carry all the time.

The Leatherman Skeletool is worth having. Some say that the bits can loosen and be lost (not a problem so far with me). I magnatize my bits so they stick around. I got the 154CM blade steel CX because I use the knife and rely on it to cut every time and I am a dang steel snob.

The Leatherman flashlights, serac models, are made offshore. I have a Serac S2 (2 mode AAA with a terrific pocket clip) and it has displaced all other pocket carry flashlights.

The factory store (part of the factory), @ PDX, has a online coupon, good for 10% off flashlights (I was there Monday to buy the S2 and you can see folks working thru glass walls, and tours can be arranged): http://www.leatherman.com/pdfs/coupon.pdf

Ordered the Skeletool today, will drag it around the sandbox with me for the rest of the tour. Will post impressions at the end.

Ordered the cheaper of the two since I carry other knives, need the tool more and at the rate I"m losing/breaking stuff lately didn't want to loose the more expensive version.

I think the standard Skeletool will serve you well:) While not as robust as a "full sized" tool, the Skeletool will be more than adequate to snip wire, cut open packages, and turn screws. For your situation, the standard 420 blade steel with a plain edge should take a good edge, hold it OK, and be easy to sharpen with available stones. The CX is nice, but the combo edge is nearly a deal breaker for me. If I were overseas, it would stay home and I would take a tool with a plain edge.
