Hi folks -

I am taking off towards Maine on my motorcycle for some fall colors and huge lobsters -

I'll check in when I can - but I'll also be posting to my blog -

http://mqqn.blogspot.com - if you are interested.

I am taking my JK Camp/Survival kit with me - just to have a good blade with me. We will not be camping on this trip - all hotels. We got our share of camping in on the trip to Deadhorse AK last summer lol...

best regards -

Stay safe, enjoy yourself, have an extra lobster for me, and take lots of photos! Later Bud!

Hi folks -

I returned home last night from my trip.

The first 6 days of my ride were all in rain. Vermont and New Hampshire are spectacular - I highly recommend a visit. The colors were very good, but since it was raining I did not have my camera out much.

It is difficult to make good time in the cold rain on a motorcycle. I can normally bomb-out 900-1100 miles in the states on a decent day, but when it is 45 and raining, you spend a lot more time at the stops. This all meant that we just did not get as far as we wanted to each day.

Also, my friend John had an accident on his Harley in West Virginia. He was not injured, but the bike was totaled. He had to get a truck and haul the bike back home. This took and extra day in WV, so we really only had the one evening in Bar Harbor Maine, then we had to bomb back to our homes.

My other riding partner, Justin, lives in Greenville SC, so we split up in Middletown PA yesterday morning.

I did 920 miles in 13 hours and 45 minutes. That is making decent time on a motorcycle.

Here are pictures that I took - not much in the way of scenery though.

To save you the trouble, here are a couple pics I took of my JK Camp/Survival knife while in Bar Harbor on the coast of Maine.

I checked your progress on the blog a few times, looks like you guys had quite a bit of wet weather to deal with! Hope you did enjoy yourself though.

Hi outdoorsfan -

Thanks for checking in on the blog - it's nice to have friends following along.

This trip really gave me a chance to get my wet-weather process down, I know where I need to improve on the gear to keep me dry.

That's making lemonade out of lemons for sure......

Glad you made it back safely. Looks like you made it to the top of Cadillac Mountain. Nice views from up there. Did you ride down into the gorge below the New River bridge?
