I got an order for this one and finally came up with something that works.

These are probably among the trickiest clips to get right so they can allow the lanyard to work, and not block the little lock for the blade. Lots of tweaks on one like this but she is done.

STR,

when do you do these clips up do you keep a template so you are able to make another exactly the same?

I ask because I just picked up a leek and that low rider clip would make it MUCH nicer to carry.

No not really like that for me. I get them called for so rarely that I don't see the need to have a template. I can come close to the same but no two are alike exactly since I do each one as they are ordered froms scratch in my shop here.

The good news is that I can use my own Leek to do one if need be so you can save the five bucks mailing the knife to me. These and some of the other Kershaw clips are a few more bucks than the other typical clips I make because they require bigger wastes of valuable titanium and that costs me to replace it sooner making these wider clips. But I can print that picture of the one you like and shoot for something very close to that look. I mean I've done it before so pretty sure I can come close enough to please.

Hey I was just asking about these in the Kershaw forum and someone suggested coming over here! Can you make one in black? Thanks!

Edit to add: Also if it makes it any easier I never use the lanyard hole and my lock broke about 4 years ago.

No sir. Cannot do black. I make my clips out of knifemaker grade titanium and can only anodize them the colors available. There are ways to do black but its so little called for that I don't see need to invest in it.

I get more requests to strip black off than to add it for example.

The most frequent color requests are blue and khaki to give the clips some 'urban camo' effect to blend with slacks. Other than these I usually bead blast them.

My low rider clip sticky thread top the page on page one of my forum has additional info and the work order form should you want one. I would not need the knife if its a Leek since I have one.

Thanks for asking.

Have you ever made the low rider for the Leek in tip down carry? If so, could you post a pic? And are you allowed to post pricing info here... you mentioned the tip up would be costlier. I'd be interested in prices on both.

Tip up or down has nothing to do with the cost its the 'foot print' of the clip as in how much titanium, how much waste there is from each one and from the amount of time it takes to do them. Typically the Kershaw clips and the Spyderco clips (certain ones) are the most difficult to pull off for me and cause the most waste and time to get right. You'd probably think I need my head examined if you just watched me make one clip and found out how much time was involved in it from start to finish.

The Leek is certainly a difficult low rider to make for tip up carry. Tip down is not so bad because I don't have to worry with weaving it between that lanyard and lock for the blade to either side of it.

The price is the same either way though since it still takes time and still has the same foot print to mount it and to make it as curvy and similar looking.

This is my forum. I pay for it so we can talk about anything we want although I do try to keep it on the topic of knives for the most part. The low rider clip thread which is a sticky post top the page page one of my forum all the time has all you need to get a work order to me. Thanks for asking

Thanks STR-

I'm still interested in a picture of a low-rider tip down on a leek if anyone would post. Also, is there a picture of the colors available for clips? I know the available colors are posted in the sticky, but no pictures.

Also would like to know the price on the leek clip. Again, I ready the sticky, but you said it would cost more.

Appreciate it.

Most all the Kershaw 'curvy' clips are $40 shipped.

The Leek is one of the harder ones even in tip down so its that price.

On pictures. I don't have any easy to get to. I know I've done some for folks but can't guarantee you'll find one. There is an old Low Rider clip thread from before I had this forum somewhere on the back pages of my forum with a ton of posts and pages in it. Perhaps there is one there somewhere but its a lot of scrolling to find it and it may not be there anymore after the mini crash when a lot of pictures were lost.

Here's a picture of a blue clip that Steve did for my Benchmade mini griptilian.
The clip is actually darker than shown in the picture - almost blends into the black Wilkinsgrips.
