Well at long last after much bugging and persuasion Uncle Bill has said at least a "Maybe" to making the Khanjarlis once again!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D
I wasn't around the 1st time, but from conversations I understand that these things were a real pain in the posterior to make and after all that then they didn't sell to well. I don't understand that except that perhaps the handles were not comfortable to our western hands?

We have to come to a couple of decisions here.....
........
1 - We have to agree on one style Khanjarlis.
2 - We have to decide what kind of handle we want.

Uncle Bill asked in the other thread if we wanted to keep the original handles or do something different.

1 - My choice of Khanjarlis is the bottom one with the beautiful slightly recurved blade with the wonderful little fullers. Sexy as Hell!!!!:D

2 - I vote for a different handle but I would like to keep the "D" guard!!!!

I like the existing handle shape on the bottom Khanjarlis, but would like to see the disk pommel removed and the steel part of the hilt, where it's held, replaced with either wood or bufalo horn.
And I think maybe, just maybe, we would be able to have a choice on either wood or horn, Uncle Bill????
(We could/can leave that choice to Uncle Bill..???...)
I would prefer wood in case I wanted to modify the handle a bit.
Wood would also be the better choice if one wanted to wrap the handle with leather or twisted wire or both as many of the old, old knives were.:)

I could get really, really excited over these, but I'm controlling myself until the reality is in sight!!!!!!! Yea, Right!!!!;)

Opinions? Comments?

I've been dreaming of one of these for almost a year. The bottom one with the fullers for me - just as is. And I like the handle (steel?), only thing is I'd hope it was big enough for western hands.

I'd rather talk about women but I'll go along with you Bro. The kamis might like the gouged blade better. We'll try to rig a wood handle with the D guard. All this after we get caught up on M-43s and Falcatas which I figure will be between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Well if you want to put it that way Uncle, then I can hardly wait to see if she's a redhead on both ends.

Rusty, please don't get me started. They are my favorite subject because I love them so much. If I get started on those wonderful creatures, women, I can beat the Phantom thread.

I would be only too happy to get one! I like better the blade on the bottom one. As I wouldn't take it as a user, the original handle with the disc pommel is o.k. with me. As I like Yvsa's designs and trust his good taste, whichever combination of handle you may be coming up with is fine with me.

Uncle,
Not women, the knife. If this knife is as much of a "red head" as yall say it is I am going to have to get one.:D

Nice to know the Cantina is running true to form. ;) :p :D :D

I like the blade on top, as it looks to be diamond cross section and has a nice, graceful curve that would make it good for slicing cuts.

However I like the hilt on the bottom blade. Combine the two, remove the D-guard, have a walnut handle and use steel EXCLUSIVELY for the hilt, and it'll be beautiful (I have to say that I do not like brass at all, not even on khukuris or the scabbards, except in inlays and scrollwork )

Pala said they had a few falcatas done but were waiting on scabbards so maybe we'll see them before Dasein but I'm not sure how many.
