I have an antique made in Japan brass ladies lighter. I bought it for my ex but she left it when she moved out.

The wife really like it, problem is the wick is way too short and I can't pull it out. Are there any other people here who can overhaul it for me and remove my ex's initials?

The wick should be easy. If it doesn't take a standard Zippo wick you can twist up some cotton thread to the right diameter. Wax it to make it stiff enough to poke through the hole.

Is the material thick enough / initials shallow enough to sand and buff out?

Another approach is to add something -- anything from a decal to an emerald.
