Hi there, thought it would be appropriate to start posting with a question.

My knife needs are pretty well covered, but carrying for SD in running gear is a problem. I've been carrying a folder clipped to waistband but I'd prefer a fixed blade. I sweat like a pig and fumbling open a folder with wet hands is dangerous and slow.

I normally wear a tank top and running shorts without pockets. I've tried different neck and harness carry options, including one where the sheath is bungeed round my chest, but somehow they never feel right. Now I carry Stiff KISS with the sheath clipped to my waistband. It's light and flat, but the clip and sheath design are far from ideal.

So basically I guess I'm looking for a skeletonized, featherweight, concealable, double-edgeg, spearpoint shiv, much like the old Cold Steel design. A reliable clip and/or some innovative carry system would be nice. Before anyone says "la griffe" - got one, and I'd still prefer a dagger-style knife. Bud Nealys by Boker look nice but too expensive, I'm afraid.

Thanks for any info you may come up with!

In most states, all that you seek will land you in jail, even if used in a SD sitituation.

Colorado recently passed shall issue CCW, so now the law abiding can carry concealed handguns. So if a permit holder stabs a bad guy, instead of shooting him, doya think the prosecutor will pursue a weapons charge if the use of force is legitimate?

"It woulda been ok if he'd a shot the guy, but he STABBED him, for cryin' out loud - he's going to the big house".

Yup, better you should avoid all outdoor activities, or just accept being a victim. /sarcasm off.

Consult your local laws, of course, in some locales defending yourself is pretty much illegal (UK, anyone?) so a weapons charge won't help.

Sorry I wasn't much help finding your knife.

The Boker/Nealy Escort is only $50. Also look at the CRKT A.B.C., and if you want push daggers-Cold Steel Safekeepers and BM 175CBK.

CS looks interesting, strange that I've overlooked them. On the other hand, CS is not sold in my part of the world (3rd world... Middle of nowhere... ) The price tag on a Boker was over $100. Most name brands are simply not there. You can't begin to imagine the cost of getting something mailed. Local officials happily slap a 100% tax on everything except books. Not kidding.

Here I can carry whatever I like. I could run with a shotgun in my hand, but that wouldn't be very much fun. I never run where it's not safe, but you never know. Dogs, druggies, looneys...

For personal preferences I've ruled out push daggers and various badge knife types, including la griffe. There's a place and time for them, but for running I like a shiv.

Well, it just dawned to me that if you want a disposable shiv, you make it yourself. Now where did I put those old steak knives and that piece of velcro...

the best fixed blade for use like ya list is the nealy amoeba, works great for carry much like ya speak of..........
