Linen Micarta Scales- What is the point?

Does anyone actually prefer the linen Micarta scales? Many models/combos are only offered with the linen Micarta scales. The point is made that additional models with canvas Micarta can not be produced because this will create too many SKUs for dealers to stock. Well, how about this: just nix the linen Micarta scales altogether. That will simplify production for ESEE and stocking problems for dealers. KISS...

I like the canvas too, but the linen is just fine by me. :)

Dizwolf likes the linen, but he also likes hosting contests to get men to wear heels so I wouldn't count him. :D

I prefer the canvas myself as well. The 6 is a great blade and I've used it quite a bit, but it never felt "right". I took the scales off the 5 and put them on the 6. The Heavens parted, angels sang, I wet myself, etc.

I don't think the SKU comment was just for canvas scales but more that everyone wants every blade color available with every handle. Jeff says they're working on a interchangable scale system now. It is interesting to my interests!

Agreed. First ESEE was a HEST. After my canvas micarta love story, the linen was tragic.

That's hilarious. I've never actually handled linen, but, from what it seams it won't have kind of grip that canvas does. I like grip.

God bless,
Adam

So, then what did you do with a 5 with linen:barf: scales? Nobody in their right mind would want to buy that bastard step child.

Although I prefer the canvas to the linen, when using my 4 or 6 with the linen, I don't ever find myself saying--this thing would cut so much better with canvas scales! To me this is more of an asethetic thing than a function thing.

I agree with most here, I like both. If I had to choose I'd say the canvas is my preference, but I've never had an issue with linen micarta.

I will say the ESEE 6 would be better with the canvas micarta.

If you'd all stop wetting yourselves, linen wouldn't be an issue.

I've got linen on a 3,4, and 6. I never had a problem with it. I don't really have any knives flying out of my hands, and I use all three types of scales.

Like I mentioned earlier, I don't mind linen, but I would LOVE to see canvas on the 6.

i can't tell a difference between linen and canvas micarta since i almost always wear gloves anyway while cutting up wood. i found that handle shape rather than the type of scales plays a much bigger factor in grip. with that said, i prefer g10 over micarta since it doesn't soak up and smell.

Actually I sold it to a nice gentelman here on the forums.

Okay, not really, it's in The Man Cave. I'm sure if I were to sell it someone would buy it. It's an ESEE blade, they don't last more than 10 minutes on the exchange unless they're the same price as a new one.

Haven't had any issues with and staining or smells, but I usually clean them ASAP.

I like both. Try a polished micarta and you would be begging for that linen!

I like fine linen, ironed with just a little starch.

I find both to be fine myself.

I do wear gloves most of the time when working with wood as well so.....
