Liner Lock problems....help!

I just recently did some cleaning on my ZT 200 folding knife. I thought I might use a little bit of silicone oil on the pivot after cleaning out all the dust in the frame. But to my surprise the action got slower and for some reason the liner lock is now very difficult to release, as if the lock now engages a bit farther to the right. I'm shocked that the oil would have any effect on how the liner lock engages. Rookie mistake with the silicone? Please help...need to save my ZT!

You have it too wet. Dry it off and it may need repeatedly dried because if too much oil is in there it will get on the contact area of the lock and it makes it stick vs slide easier just as you describe. If its really wet it may require some acitone to take off the oild from the contact area. Dry it good on both the blade and the lock face using a folded over paper towel or Q tip to get into it if you can and then try it. It should work better, at least until it gets wet again.

Its one of the reasons I always tell folks to use a good dry lube like Tuff Glide on their liner locks and frame locks. It goes on wet but when used sparingly its not going to go where you don't want it and of course the best thing about it is that it dries so it won't run elsewhere.
