Liner-lock wear on Military?

I noticed few days ago that when I pushed the blade on my Military with my thumb while in sabre grip, the liner-lock would visibly move toward the side with pocket clip. Then I performed a spine-whack test and the lock failed! I repeated the test several teimes and the lock failed more than not. I'm just wondering if anyone else experienced Military developing lock instability over time, since mine had a perfect lock-up when I first bought the knife.

Since getting my inlay Military (102)
I have noticed a couple of things...

The liner ramp is now no longer polished it has a grey finish instead!

The handle is more grip you back! It feels more secure in my hand!

The liner lock does not open as far, with my older model it comes to about 60-65% to the right. The way that it is attached inside looks different as well. On my old model, the liner is 'up' from the recess by at least another inch than my inlay model (if you mesure from where the cut out thumb notch is for the thumb in the scales). Not sure if this means my old model liner is coming unstuck or if the new one is over glued? Anyway no compaints here! The inlay fully covers the tang, but only just.

Question is, is this a result of my Military begining to wear out (had very light use, 6 months old) or that Spyderco are building the new mdels better? Or that my old Military is a little 'faulty'?

Anyone else notice this?

Hi General. The newest models have adjustments that the older ones didn't. I'd really have to see the pieces to really answer you questions. Although if there isn't a problem, I wouldn't concern over it.

I had that same problem today with my older military... what i recommend is you get a t6 screwdriver and tighten all the screws along the spine of the handle.... the ones that go through the spacer in the back... ive found that with time they loosen and decrease the stability of the lock because it loses stability of the handle

Thanks, I will give it a try!

For the record, it has not failed the spine whack test...

Not worried about it!

I would trust any Spyderco, and with the Ultra Fine benchstone edge my Military has... My fingers would be on the floor!
