Liong Mah design?

This is just thinking out loud mostly, but I'm curious if anyone's heard/read anything about this.

On another knife BB I saw a picture posted of knives from the SHOT show. One was listed as being of a table with Liong Mah-designed knives. In this picture there's a knife with a Spyderhole and a ball bearing lock. It doesn't look like any Spyder I've seen or heard of. I don't know if it's a Mah design, just that it was on a table with some of his knives.

Does anyone know if Mah and Spyderco are designing anything together? I'd be very interested in that project if it was confirmed legit.

I don't know if BF would want the pic linked here, so if anybody would like a look you can PM me.

Is it the Pikal design? It's supposed to be a ball bearing lock, but I haven't seen pics in quite a while, and forgot what it looked like.

Sorry, not much help:confused:

I don't believe I've ever seen the Pikal design. Can you refer me to any pictures of it?

folding version with a spyderhole, can't post pics of the real deal yet, but I think you can register at selfdefenseforums.com to see.

Hmm, the knife I saw in the SHOT picture was just a regular folder (so to speak) and not a purpose built SD tool like the stuff there from Shivworks. That would pretty much rule out the Pikal I think.

Which still begs the question, what did you see?

Hope somebody else can clear this up, my curiosity has be piqued.

Cool, thanks for the info Paul. I should have remembered Viele's mark was the line of 3 small holes. I wouldn't mind seeing a production version of that knife at all.

Indeed, that is an impressive looking knife. It would be great to see Spyderco to bring this to fruition. We can only hope it's evolving on the back burner as we type.
