Is it possible to compile a list of all of the slipjoint patterns out there? Could we get a sticky after all of the information is gathered? I just bought the new Blade Guide to Knives printing, and the old Levine Guide pattern chart is pretty helpful.

Read through LG4. There were/are thousands of patterns/variants. It is possible to compile a list...

I'd wager that the easist way to compile a list would be to start some kinda wiki on it. Let each person contribute the knowledge they have to the collective. Still, it would be a massive undertaking. There's a Swiss Army Knife wiki and there are tons of variants just in that one line alone and even then we keep finding new models to add to the list...

So to catalog everything...it could be done. Start up a wiki and insist on lots of pictures. Sort by brand. I think it could work pretty well, but it definitely beyond the scope of a forum thread.

Here, go check out the SAK wiki for an example. http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php

It's not a list of every pattern, but Shepherd Hills Cutlery's web site shows every pattern that Case does. It's pretty extensive, although it doesn't apply to other makers.

Read through LG4.

I always figured that LG4 was the list. Incomplete - no list would ever be complete, I don't think - but more info than any other source, IMHO. (I never get tired of reading that book.)

thx - cpr
