got a spear point talonite mini madd maxx w/CF handles(#3) a few wks ago, have been carrying as an EDC, has high/low points
high
those flippers really work well for deployment, imho are surpassed only by the wave, and not by much by the wave imho, they also work GREAT for left hand use, for use a a weak side knife i cant think of a better system for lefties
this thing is made TIGHT and SMOOTH - ya can hold it in your hand and flick the horns of the flippers w/your fingers and 'snap' ya deploy the blade, very smooth, but no probs w/opening in the pocket, and i mean SMOOTH action, after they wear in , it doesnt get any smoother i dont think, just a light snap of the horn and 'snap' its locked open......
frame lock is very secure/tight, w/no chance of accidental opening imho, and zero chance of accidental closing, too
the thing has a 4" blade and is barely 4 1/2 " OAL, while my BM AFCK, w/a 4" blade, is prob a 1" or so longer OAL, the DDR is very short and easy to conceal for a knife w/a 4" blade
talonite blade takes an edge and holds it, very sharp from the factory, touched it up once on my spydie ceramic ultra fine, serious sharp now, and holding that edge too......
all in all a great knife, well designed/built, light, very smooth action, and bank vault tight lock up
not the cheapest knife around, but a A #1 knife, imho, esp w/the talonite blade....ya gotta handle the DDR maxx to appreciate the smooth action, just impossible to describe, SMOOTH, yet secure against accidental opening....
down points? not crazy about the pocket clip, kinda flimsy imho, bends easy, but does hold the knife low/secure, so functions well other than kinda light and easy to bend - solution, bend it back to form w/pliers - only prob so far, and all in all, no biggie
an excellent knife, the workmanship is impeccable, compared to my cammilus cuda maxx for example, though the cuda maxx is a great knife esp for the $$, the DDR quality shines thru, in comparison, ya cant help but notice the diff in quality/smoothness of action, as ya should, the DDR costs 3X(or more!) than the cudamaxx...i think it would also stack up well against virtually any other folder available now, seriously(!), for a pocket fightin' folder....
i love my minimaxx.....i'm not sure it could get any better for a 4" folder...at any price!
way to go, darrel, its one of the few knives i have that i like better every time i carry it, just gets better and better and......
