Local dealer said ZT 780 discontinued. I hope it is not the truth. What say ye?

I heard the 780 ZT had been discontinued already. I really hope that is not the case. That's a good looking knife and I hope it sticks around.

Can anyone confirm this being true or false?

Thanks!

It does suck. It's why some folks bought several of them.

You can still find a couple on a certain auction site if you look. Good luck.

If you want one now is the time to look before they disappear!

I hope Thomas can chip in with how many were made. So far I haven't seen anything with a serial number higher than 3xx.

My Dad called me just now and told me he just got a call from ZT and his couldn't be repaired. (lock-rock, off center blade, metal on butt end cut outs) They are sending him a 0350. The representative told him they did have problems with the first batch and were reworking some, but it would take a month or so, he just choose another ZT rather than to wait. Now I have two decent ones and he has none!

Does it mean that quality control problems will be revised and we'll see 0780 back on the market soon ?

This is quite the shock. My 0780 is perfect. Serial #297... I have been using this blade as an EDC but this news makes me a little less confident.

The only thing that makes me feel that this knife was a bit rushed is that the pocket clip doesn't even have ZT branding on it... I found that a bit odd. Otherwise an amazing knife.... I hope ZT can make a second generation of it when they have time.

I don't think so, TW said they were done with them. I think they just are reworking a few returns and rejects to have something to return to those that sent them in. At least that was my Dad's impression from talking with the representative today.

Also I have two and both are solid and I don't think there's any issue with them, or yours. The man told my Dad a few of the first batch did have some issues.

Can anyone tell me if there are going to be more 0780s shipping to dealers? A couple online dealers are showing backorder status and letting orders go through.

Check post #8. That seems to make it clear all that will be shipped have been shipped.
