Lock rating on the Delica 4?

Sal had a thread a while back that explained the lock ratings, and approximately where certain types of models would fall. If I can find that thread, I'll post his response here.

Found it. From a thread late last year. Sal was talking about the 3rd gen Endura originally, but mentioned the E4, and I would expect comparable performance from the 4th Gen Delica

The Endura hovers between very high medium and low heavy duty. These are pressure tests, not impact tests. All of our knives are spine tapped a number of times during the manufacturing process, but they are not destructive taps, enough to test the fit and geometry. They are again tested in QC.

The Endura 4 with full, but nested steel liners are well into the heavy duty range. We'll have more consistent testing done when they are in production.

Here is the whole thread.

Hope that helps.

To give you an idea, i've done full force hits on the spine of my Endura 3 trainer without collapse (put a good size gash in a telephone poll). It's a very solid lock and lockbacks by their nature are much more impact risistant than many other locks. If the E4 is even more solid than the E3, i wouldn't worry one bit.

The post above is very reassuring. That's why I love the Endura, a great reliable "beater" knife (got the E3).

Sorry to correct you Mongo man,

"Very Heavy Duty" is our reference to prior our MBC.

Keep in mind these are just "in-house" ratings for our own use.
