Hi fellas, last month, I purchased the JYDll Which was my second kershaw, the first being a Chive. I really like the flipper on the dog,and see the NRG is also set up the same. I do own a couple diffrent CRKT M16'S with the flipper style, and much prefer this to AO. The NRG apears to be possabley a little lighter and thiner for the pocket, than the JYD. Would appreciate any comments on the NRG
so that I can say hey! I'll buy it.:D

Peace,

Dave

i have both the large and the small ENER-GII's and i gotta say both are amazingly addictive. but there is something about the smaller one that gets me every time i flip it. not only is the thing the perfect little pocket scalpel but it flips so well and is just a joy. every one who has handled this thing has asked me to get them one. if you order from NGK i think all of theirs are first production run and say so on the blade. i like the added collector's value of having the first in a series, seeing as how kershaw doesn't really ever need to improve on a concept once they put it into production its mostly near perfect.

sorry, im sure you will get other opinions on the knife but i know speaking for myself. get the small first and then the large and then the RAM and then......well you know.

ENER-G II is a great knife. Much slimmer than the JYD II and I find it more pocket friendly. The weights are probably fairly close from what I remember of the JYD.

Regarding the flippers, the mechanisms for each knife are different. The JYD has the tab as part of the blade and it serves as a finger guard when open. On the ENER-G the tab you push on is a separate piece from the blade that moves in its own track and when the knife is open it sits flush along the spine. I find the ENER-G to be faster and more consistent. I can open it in my off hand, or even with the middle finger rather than index finger, easily. I did not find the same to be true with the JYD. Part of that comes down to personal preference and one's particular manipulation of the knife. Regardless, I think you'd be well served to give the ENER-G a try.

Hey Bus, I've always said that the ENER-G II's are the sharpest out of the box knives I've ever had...including spydies and bm's (until I got my SG2 Blur, but that's another story). The knife is an engineering marvel for the reasons stated above regarding the extremely unique flipper. The profile is flat enough to carry comfortably, and the ergos are perfect for me. Some have said that the trac-tec inserts are a little rough on the pocket material, but an adjustment in the tension of the clip and I haven't experienced this problem. Personally, it carries better than the JYD II.

I'm basically down to two carry knives these days...the ENER-G II and the SG2 Blur. Both are excellent values. I'd love to see Kershaw do the ENER-G II in a sprint run: frame lock with a composite blade, or at least in SG2.

Very fast and smooth, the ENER-G is a pleasure to carry, open, and use. You will not regret the purchase!

I'll take it!
Thanks boyzz, some very good points and comparisons. Thats all I really needed,
was some input on how you felt about the NRG. I will post, when she comes in. I was fairly confident that Id like it,but just needed your views to be sure.
