looking for a hawk with the following in order priorities. 1)Light enough to carry in the mountains in a fully loaded hunting pack. 2)Tough enough to throw when hunting is slow. 3)Enough head weight to chop through elk skull and pelvis. 4)Adequate for emergency fire wood gathering and brush shelter construction. 5)price under $50?
Thanks in advance.

www.ltspecpro.com This is Cold Steel's Special Projects site (just a patron - not involved :) ). Their prices are more aggressive through this outlet. I got "The Rifleman's Hawk" and "Trail Hawk" - inexpensive (and a Trailmaster Bowie 2nd & a Scottish baskethilt & Voyagers...etc.). The Rifleman is a bit heavy. If you are going to go on long hikes - you will be packing less weight with the Trail Hawk. If you want better heavy splitting - you are back to the Rifleman. :D One good source... Don
