Looking for a maker for a custom multi-blade slipjoint

I'm interested in having a custom slipjoint made. It would be a traditional 3.5" Stockman style with three blades - clip, drop, and sheepsfoot. I might also be interested in scissors. I'm not too sure of what handle materials I'd like, or which blade steel I may want at this point.

Any recommendations on such a maker?

Hi Kelly,
Eugene Shadley, Tony Bose, Terry Davis, Joel Chamblin come to mind first off. There are others you will meet at the Blade Show, but I feel these guys are about the best that can be found presently.(Not going out on a limb here at all.) Les might have some other good suggestions.
My other two favorites are Baily Bradshaw who is doing some very nice work and Dan Burke is another to take a look at. I think all these guys will be at the Blade Show and you will have a good time meeting each of the above. I have not had the chance to meet Mr Davis, but I sure do think highly of the rest of these guys and their work. If you can hold off until Atlanta, you will have a blast comparing all that work. They will also be glad to make one for you to order, but be prepared for a wait.

I collected my twin bladed (one long clip, one spey) "moose" pattern springblade from Eugene Shadley last year. Handled the order via e-Mail and fax (from South Africa) with no hassles at all, a thorough gentleman. Brilliant knife, with lots of fine touches that lift it way above just being a custom made traditional pattern. Really nice blade grinds and superb fit & finish. His stockman's, sowbelly's and sleeveboard's look brilliant . . . really tempted to place an order for one.

I've also got two Cliff Polk's (circa 1989), one small single blade model with mammoth, and one medium sized model with black micarta (both "canoe" patterns). The medium size model is a hell of a hard working pocket knife and cuts like crazy!

Kelly,

I suggest checking out Ray Cover Sr. I have a multi blade slip joint and the fit and finnish are perfect. The one I have has 440V blades. It is a copy of the knife Ray carry's in his pocket everyday. Last I knew he was useing 440v, D2, and ats. If you like any contact info email me. The cost for mine was $250. That was a very reasonable price for the quality.

If you want it right away, Larry at www.knifeart.com has quite a few handmade multi-blades available; some are by Bradshaw and Shadley, I don't remember all of the makers he stocks, though.

You might want to give Rick Hinderer a try, he makes very nice folders and I remember that the made a two bladed trapper with damacus blades and mammoth ivory scales, it was in either knives 95 or 97, my memory escapes me.

His email is RHind64@aol.com

Kelly,

I think JerryO has a very good recommendation. Bailey is making some very nice multiblades. They are at a reasonable price also.
