recommendations welcome... the key for this one is CHEAP... it will almost certainly be mercilessly abused, so when (not if) i break it, i don't want to be out a bunch of money

I'm looking at a few options.

Cold Steel Spike series
Becker BK11 or 14
Browning 121BL Tracer Neck
Benchmark Backpacker
CRKT minimalist

other suggestions in a similar price range welcome

Well to move your threads, you should use the report button at the lower left border of the box your post is isolated in.

Did you know BUSSE makes a neck knife with their famous warranty. Good luck breaking that thing.

There is another company that makes danger survival knives, and they have a lifetime warranty on their $40 something neck knife.

Can you tell me who that is? i didn't know busse made a neck knife... i know they make little bitty ones. I might look at that option, since i am a pretty hardcore Bussekin lover

Not a fan of neck knives, but I do like small fixed blades. I have a Spike, like a razor-sharp steak knife. Far more useful IMO is the Boker Plus Pocket Bowie, which comes with a ball-chain for neck carry (though it's not how I carry mine).

Also going to pick up a Boker Plus Nippon Necker at some point (really like the Vox designs).

ESEE or Becker, no doubt. I own both an Izula and a BK11, and they are both fantastic knives. The Izula has a far better sheath and handle, the BK11 has a larger blade. I haven't played with the BK14 yet, but it looks cool.

Murray Carter.. Sharpest knives I have ever seen.

I am also looking at the Bark River 3V Bravo Necker. They offer two sizes in a variety of colors, and you can pick your own scales (optional) from a plethora of options.

I think Cold Steel has some inexpensive options as well of you are looking for more unique (tactical) designs.

Cheers!

Maybe look at the neck knives offered by Condor. They're inexpensive and, given the materials and relative thickness, should be pretty tough.

I'm thinking i'd prefer $40 or less. The BK11 is very high up on my list

I don't see the added value in an Izula, which is VERY similar, and has very similar heat treat.

suggestions in that price range?

The Bark River Bravo Necker 2 in 3V is probably my favorite go-to production neck knife. I'm pretty sure there are Bussekin neckers though. I never really liked the looks of them, but you might. Blackjack has a neat looking one as well. I'd throw both of those in the ring.

For a lower prize level, the Böker Plus Gnome (Voxnäs Design) is a great neck knife, and also for backpocket carry.

Ive got my eye on the boker vox nippon.....really slick lookin and perfect size for horizontal belt carry.
