There, I said it... All the folders I own have blade over 3"... My smallest knife is Spyderco Native, but it has blade that goes slightly over the 3"...

Any recommendations? I like anything that has good build, materials, and reasonable price.

Well, they're probably out of your price range, but what the hell...I can't reccomend CRK products enough. The small Sebenza, Umfaan, and Mnandi are all under 3". They got the build, materials, and reputation. Great knives.

You should get a Calypso jr (Spyderco) while you still can (it is discontinued). Blade is under 3" and cutting performance is as good as you'll find.

The BM 705 is a really nice little number. I've owned two and I really liked them (sold one and lost one). They are very strong little folders and they have the AXIS lock. Blade is just under 3".

I really suggest that you take a look at Charle Gedraitis. He makes really fine folders with blades under 3". Here's one.

Also Check out Peter Marker. All but his Maxi line are under 3".

Have you thought about the Camillus EDC? The EDC has a great design, and can choose from 420HC, 154CM, D2 and talonite blades. Now that's variety!!!

I'll put in my 2 cents.... I've heard good things about Gedraitis knives.

Very good suggestions, everyone! Thanks!

I was thinking about Mnandi, but I better use the extra cash for Randall... (Same goes for Gedraitis)

Navigator does not have the looks, and BM 705 ... I don't know, it will not feel right after my BM 710...

Calypso Jr is a very good choice, but for some reason Camillus EDC appeals to me the most. Thank you for bringing this knife to my attention Buzzbait

I highly recommend the Spyderco Meerkat. $40 shipped, blade under 3", adn possible the coolest locking mechanism ever.

Three (cool knives) immediately come to mind (while keepin' it under 3"). . .

CRK

Mnandi
Handle length: 3.60” and blade length: 2.75”

Kershaw

Double Cross
Blade 1: 2-3/8" (Drop Point) and blade 2: 1-7/8" (Wharncliffe).
Closed: 3-1/2"

Double Duty
Blade 1: 2-3/4" (Clip Point) and blade 2: 2-5/8" (Spey).
Closed: 4-1/8"

Benchmade 555 mini-griptillian. I was just in such a situation, looking for a new 3" or less folder. Got a chance to handle the Camillus EDC, 555, 705, and numerous others. I liked the 555. The EDC is a nice knife though, gotta admit. :)

I love my 555 with its axis lock, larger and more rounded grip than the 705, and nifty blade shape. I also like the oval hole for opening, and the price can't be beat.

Good luck, it's a TOUGH choice!

I too would have to recommend a small CRKT or Spyderco. Also, I just bought a SOG Mini Auto-Clip on Ebay for $22.99. I don't know how good it is yet, but it says SOG on it so it can't be too bad.

How about a BM350?

Without a doubt I can highly recommend an Emerson Mini CQC7B. Tough as nails folder at 2.9 inches. It permanantly replaced my other two utility EDC knives that were both around 3.5 inches. I am finding the tanto point extremely useful. A lot of people say that the tanto is useless for utility work but I work in a maintenance shop and use this bugger Every single day. If you use your knife hard this one will stand up tall! If you dont like the Tanto point then they have a regular blade as well (I guess clip point or something). It's no beauty Queen but It gets the job done big time. plus you can probably get it for like $80 bucks on Ebay. I think I payed $89 locally.

Well, at the risk of having the other children laugh at my small....umm...blade, I find a Gerber LST that I picked up at Wal-Mart for about $20 is light as a feather for carrying everywhere, and works great for as often as I use it. Only drawback is it isn't one-hand opening. OK, I'm not opening re-enforced cardboard boxes all day or swinging through 6 hanging hemp ropes or skinning moose or anything like that, but for something I have on me all the time, and pull out of my pocket maybe once or twice a day for a small utility task, it's fine. And I can put the extra $40 toward a fancier version of a Native or something else for when I really want a hard worker (weekends, camping, most outdoor time, just showin' off, etc.)

How about CRKT S-2? The small 7501, with titanium & ATS34 for under $25 at eknifeworks.com.

Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Calypso Jr.
Spyderco Meerkat
Spyderco Navigator
Spyderco Salsa
Spyderco SS Dragonfly
Spyderco Cricket
Camillus EDC (now in 154CM!)
Benchmade Mini Griptilian

That should be enough options for you to begin with.
