Can anyone direct me to an online source for buying some inexpensive D2 steel for making a rather large bowie knife? Thanks.

I've found the best prices at toolanddie.com. That said, there is no such thing as a large piece of inexpensive D2.

You may want to try Crucible's new CPMD2. I have found that it finishes a whole lot nicer, and they tell me that because of the powder metal process that it should be slightly more corosion resistant than conventional D2

I don't think it is even listed on their site yet. Give Scott Devanna a call, tell him I told him to call you. 1-800-365-1168
