Does anyone know how I can get a hold of the very excellent Kydex neck-sheaths that Ironstone was selling about a year ago, for use with the Delica? I am hoping to be able to acquire one or more to give as a gift to a lady friend. (The only lady I know who knew of Spyderco before I introduced her to it.) What happened to Ironstone? I called their number (from an old catalog) and got "Spyderco Factory Outlet," and when I ordered a "catalog" all I got was a Spyderco product brochure (a "Y2K" one, at that!). The Ironstone catalog had a GREAT selection, not only of Spyderco but of other brands as well. Please tell me someone is going to pick up their mantle and carry on as an excellent mail-order knife catalog company.

Spyderco Factory Outlet was formerly known as Ironstone. I made the sheaths for the Delica and do so for just about all the Spydies. You can contact me at VideoSAS@aol.com. Spyderco Factory Outlet keeps a number of my sheaths on hand also.

The sheathes that BladeArt sells are also made by Mike.

As one of Mike's many happy customers let me recommend his work! My wife and I each have one of his sheathes and I have another one on order. The design and execution are superb.

Thanks for your help, everyone. Actually, someone who responded to my query in rec.knives pointed me toward KnifeCenter.com, and I found what looks like the exact make and model there. And wow, that was my first time at KnifeCenter and I was IMPRESSED. So far, they do seem to be every bit of what they claim -- the first and the best. I just wish I had more money to blow with them.

Anyway, I found what I wanted and then some. If you haven't checked them out, you should do so.

They do some nice work. Got interested because someone either here or over at the Spyderco forum posted pics of the carbon fiber rigs they got from this place. Also, their rigs hold the knife tip-down, which would make more sense to me, whereas all the Sastre rigs seem to hold tip-up.

To note on your other post, I miss the molded clip Delicas too. With some digging, I imagine some can be found, but it would be nice not to have to.

Mister Soze,

The tip up (or pivot down) carry allows you to deploy the blade directly on the draw. This is as quick as anything out there if you need to employ your knife in a hurry. There are a lot of dealers carrying my sheaths, but Blade Art and SFO are the only two who presently have access to my full line of sheaths.

Hey Mister...

The Tip up design is all Mikes,, I Only do tip down neck rigs..

I've done a couple TU's for myself,,however if you want them tip up,,you'll have to talk with Mikey..

Leading The Way In Quality Synthetic Sheathing

Mr Sastre - I hope you don't think I was knocking your sheaths. They seem to be well designed, well made equipment. Every remark I have ever read about them praise their quality and your abilities as a craftsman. I was simply trying to offer another option to someone who was asking for information about kydex sheaths. I understand your sheaths are widely available, which again, speaks well for them and you. My personal preference for a neck sheath would tilt in favor of tip-down because it would seem that when drawing the knife, it would be positioned in my hand properly, my thumb could easily deploy the blade, without needing to turn the knife or do any thing requiring much manual dexterity. Same reason I prefer tip-up in a pocket carry - seems more natural for me. Seeing as how I do not own any neck sheaths, this is just pure speculation.

Eric - No problem.

Mikes are the best!!! I have one for my Native and another one for a Terzuola. Tip up is the way to go for the super fast Spyderco hole drop. It can be drawn left or right handed. And I did buy mine from the SFO.

You have to try Mike's sheaths to see that they are set up to be drawn very efficiently.
The knives CAN be drawn to snap open very fast; Or, they can be drawn and opened, with the normal "thumb hole" method with ease. These are excellent sheaths, whether worn around the neck; or secured to back-pack straps or flotation vests.
