Hey all. I have some bad news. A little while ago I posted with a question of what to do about a bent clip. Well, I bent the clip back again (actually I had to do it twice) and it still didn't hold. Last night when I went to go for my Starmate I was alarmed to find that it wasn't clipped to my pocket. I don't know where it is now, but whoever is lucky enough to find is going to be very happy. :(
I geuss it's time for a new knife.

Sounds like you have a chronic problem of catching the clip. I was catching mine as I came out of the front seat in my old truck. Maybe you can change your carry to inside the waistband or crossdraw. Its worth trying because a new knife probably won't change the basic problem of hooking that clip.

I hope you find your MIA Starmate. Its agreat knife.

Lev, Ouch...I haven't lost a knife in over 10yrs. myself, but am still not happy about it. I don't have a problem with clips catching as a rule, but I do carry my Starmate inside the pants near my right rear pocket. The Starmates slim design lends itself to this carry and I don't even know it's there. If I lost mine I would have to replace it as soon as possible as I have grown fond of this knife and carry it often. Hope you find it...

Thanks for all the good words guys. I have never had a problem with clips before on any knives, so I don't know what to say. The Starmate was my first and only Spyderco. It's a great knife and I love that CPM 440v.
Any suggestions for a new knife, given that I like everything about the Starmate? Thanks again.

Lev, If at all possible back-track every place you were before you noticed the knife missing. I lost my SS Co-Pilot three times due to it slithering out of my pocket and found it every time. I no longer carry SS Spydercos for that reason.

suggestions on a new knife? other than another Starmate, if you liked the Starmate, you'd probably like the Military :D
