Last night I cleaned up a knife I forged by draw filing. I had ordered a 12" second cut mill and a 12" smooth cut mill to compliment my large bastard file and am I pleased! When I finished with the smooth cut I had what is basically a 320 grit finish! With a little practice flats will be a cinch with these babies and I won't even have to touch the blade with paper until after heat treat! If you are trying to get by without a decent belt grinder or are just a cheap bastid, BUY some second cut and smooth cut files and learn how to draw file! -Guy Thomas

Quiet One--where did you order your files from?

Tangus, I got the second cut and smooth cut from Jantz supply, they have a great selection. Their catalog doesn't specify what make they carry but these were Grobet if I remember right.
All of the big tool/suppply companies like Enco and McMaster carry them also. I'd like to get a set of the three in 14" and also the smaller sizes. Trouble is you could easily spend several hundred dollars buying files of all shapes and sizes so I'm trying to get by with just a few of the specialty cuts from supply houses and of course bastard files in whatever shape is available locally. -Guy Thomas
