Low profile closures?

The stack height of this retention strap snap is way to tall/high for this rig.
Is there anyone making a low profile snap for 8-9 oz leather? Or, are there any alternative hardware choices or methods of making this closure? I've looked at button studs and Sam Brown buttons as well. They all have a similar finished height.

The smaller Line 20 snaps are much more low profile, but as you said they're not made for such thick leather. I even have a little trouble getting Line 24 snaps to work on 10 oz, I skive a little leather off to make it easier to set.

I usually use 7/8 oz leather for straps, and still have to skive it down a little when I use the smaller snaps.

Maybe a small "one way" pull the dot (canteen) snap or a small Sam Brown button if you can find them...wish I knew where so any who knows sing out.

Another thought, because they are available in various sizes, is a small Chicago Screw as a button stud, In that case you might have to use two thinner straps sewn together to secure the back of the screw since I don't think glue alone would do it for very long.

Never seen it done on leather or tried it, but sewing velcro on the strap should keep it from bulking up so much.

Bigblue, Ohio travel bag has the Sam Browne type studs in various sizes, some of which are much smaller than the standard size.

I use Velcro on all my sheaths. If you get some 'Industrial Strength' Velcro, the stuff is bombproof! I use it for closures, belt loops, and mounting systems. I've never had a problem with it.
