M2HS...Still Around?

A few years ago Benchmade made a lot of noise with it's introduction of M2HS in the Nimravis and AFCK knives. I haven't seen anything recently with that steel and I'm not sure even Benchmade still uses it. Is it still in vogue? How does it stack up against the new CPM's?

They do still have it on some models. They've been using it quite a bit in special runs, such as the Forum 705BC1HS, the 730CFHS, a 940 special run, probably others. It's also either standard, or an option, on several regular productions knives, startin with the 710.

I'm sure others here are more knowledgable about comparing it to the new steels, but I think it's comparable to most of them.

Benchmade is also making a few with D2!

I just bought a 710HS, in the M2 steel.

It's very nice. So far, I prefer it over ATS-34/154CM, but I don't know if it's just in my head.

I would suspect it's easier to sharpen than the new S30/60/90V class of super-stainless-steels.

Codeman, was there a special run of 940 in M2? Can you provide more details? I'd really love to have that one in M2 :)
