MA knife law, and I'm guessing all knife law, is situational. Depending on the cop that pulls you over. When I was 17 I was stopped with a Smith and Wesson fixed blade boot knife, single edged, and a folder. I was given both back through the interior window in the squad car before having the backseat window rolled down so that I could exit (open door from outside only).
I've been searched and barrated as well as relieved of my spyderco ladybug by a police officer, anyone who knows what this knife is will know how crazy that sounds.
I also live in NH part time. I can walk around with a KA-Bar on my leg (which NH law says is okay) and get compliments, or I can get stopped and questioned. It's all up to the cop, and wether or not they feel like adding your piece to their collection.
