I'd like to hear about your choice for machines (other than awls) for sewing sheaths. Are there any sources for used machines or is that even worth considering? Any that you'd flat recommend staying away from? Thanks.

I have used an Artisan 797ABLTHR for nearly seven years and an Artisan Toro4000 for a little over five years with zero failure or complaint. Artisan customer service is spectacular. When and more realistically IF I need to replace a machine, Artisan will be the first place I look.

They do have a web site. Artisan Sewing Supplies dot com.

I've had an Artisan Toro3000 for about 3 weeks now and if love is possible between man and machine, this is it. :p

Seriously, it's a great machine and I'm really enjoying it. I followed Paul's advice and yes Artisan is a great bunch to deal with.
