Was jsut wondering if you all stamp your blades with makers mark and if you do, where you had it made. I don't think I want to etch the mark in. I have searched on the net for custom makers of stamps, but have not found any good leads.

I have been getting some of my first orders for my blades an i want to put my mark on them. I already have the design, just need the punch made.

Would you all recommend that I get it trade marked or just run with it?

Talk to Timothy Harper at Harper Manufacturing. I believe they are out of Las Vegas. Email: harpermfg@sprynet.com I just noticed they have an ad in the new Blade magazine. They must be starting to do a lot of knife maker stamps.

The add says hundreds of knifes markes approx cost $239 aus
with your strong dollar about $100 us I think we get about 56c to your dollar. If you have to mail order may be cheaper here.

I use a battery charger myself.

Harper Mfg has made two for me, Tim's a great guy to talk to. He really appreciates what we do, likes knifemakers and cares what he sends out.

Mike-

I want to use a stamp instead of an etch because all of my work so far is pattern welded damascus. I don't know if I were to use an etched mark, how good it would show up or look.

I use C1095, 15N20, and pure nickel in my blades (not all trhee at the same time....yet). Then I use ferric chloride for the etch, which gets the 1095 prety darm dark, so I did not think an etched mark would be the way to go. What do you think?

Here is an exmple of one of my blades, 15N20 and C1095:

You can get a silver etch, if the machine is set on DC, and deep etch. But cleaning up after an etch is probably not the most fun thing to do, on a damascus blade.
