Making my first sword

I got hold of a bandsaw blade from a sawmill. 8 foot long, 4 inches wide and about 1/4 inch thick. First I cut it in half and then cut all teeth off except 1 just above the handle. Now the blade is 2 1/2 inches wide and about 4 foot long. So far the blade is not tapered or edges ground yet. What to do next?

Without knowing what equipment you have or your level of experience it's hard to say what comes next. Do you want it fully hardened/tempered? If not I would profile the blade to what suits you. Don't try for someone's elses ideas of what a sword should be but just make small changes until it looks like what you want.
