First of all a big thanks to Ray (Razor) who sold me this knife for a great price and had extremely prompt service.

I still have not used it too much, so I will save a performance report for another time.

The knife is big and quite heavy. This is exactly what I wanted and this knife came through in spades on that front.

Fit and finish is stunning on this piece. In fact, it is the best finished knife I own. I can't find a single flaw or irregular surface. I have scrutinized the blade every way I know how. Nothing stands out. Grinds are fabulous and the knife is stupid sharp - shaving hair with ease.

Action is very smooth. After only a day, the blade has loosened to the point where it drops down readily for easy one handed closing. Out of the box, the blade needed just a light wrist movement to drop.

The lock seems quite secure with a positive click upon engagement. Resistance for the release is lighter than I expected, but smooth.

The blade has no play in any direction when opened. Once it is broken in a bit, I suspect it may develop a bit of normal play (I guess this is normal for a lockback), but if it is anyhthing like my Scorpius it will be too little to tell when using.

The G10 is very grippy. This knife is much more secure in grip than my others (including, ironically, my Griptilian). The checkered pattern help secure the grip as does the contour of the handle.

The handle is EASILY a four finger handle. In fact, my big hands have some room to spare. I like the fact that I can choke up on the choil, but I find that grip to be less secure and a bit less comfortable.

If you can't tell, I like the knife. If you want a big, strong folder, this is worth a good look. At this point, it is the nicest folder I have ever handled. I should note that I have not handled THAT many knives. The closest knife I have handled to this one is the TSEK. That was nice too, but this knife evokes more feelings by a long shot.

I will get back after I start to use the blade more.

:)

The Manix is my new all-time favorite folder. You should check out the Chinook II if you like the Manix.

I would love to. The problem is that I have some other priorities that cost money (kids and wife) :D . I love to spend my money on them. I try to justify my knife purchases in my own head by saying that I have a gap in a particular knife segment that I would like to fill. This knife fills my "big-honkin' scary tactical built like a tank" gap. The Chinook, being in the same league as the Manix, will probably not be purchased for that reason.

I am really looking forward to the Manix 80mm. I think the Manix looks like an awesome knife!!

I have used the knife for various purposes and thought I would post some quick comments on it's performance to this point.

Food prep has been great. Pepperoni, cheese and whatever else. The knife is so sharp it makes quick work of anything. If you need really fine slices, you may be in trouble as the thickness of the blade makes it challenging.

The point is very impressive. I opened up a bag of diapers and it reminded me of the scence in Empire Strikes Back when Han used a light saber to cut opn that animal to keep Luke warm. Remember when all the guts just fell out? The bag of diapers did the same thing. Diapers everywhere....

Okay, convoluted references are done now...

Opening the knife has become very easy. I have learned how to thumb flick it open with a bit of practice, although just thumbing it open is my prefered method due to safety. One can also swing it open without touching the blade if one desires. This requires a forceful arm/wrist motion and the knife locks open with some major impact...so much that I question whether or not this is a good way to open the blade. Perhaps someone can comment on the durability consequences of using this technique?

Anyhow, I am still all smiles with this knife.

I look like this -------> :D

My wife looks like this ------->
