i love the Manix..the shape..ergos..but the size stinks..it's huge..i would like something 2-3 this..maybe a tad small than that..like the size of a calypso or maybe a tad larger than that but you folks get the drift..60/40 edge or 50/50 or pe..ss or g10..aluminum w.almite or tuffram coating would be nice on a sprint run..the Mini Military..same size as described above..i would love to see these come into form..i think it would be a hit..any one else w.me on this..

the paramillie is a great size. I dont find it too big for carry, nor too wide. It allso affords a good bit more cutting power than the calypso, though at the sacrafice of some general slice ability (i dont ever notice the extra mm of thickness hampering me, only the size helping.

to get a better idea of sizes, this guy has a bunch of pics, all to scale. There is also a thing where you measure a line on your screen and input the length and it will give you a life size pic of the knife. http://www.ted.tweakdsl.nl/spyderco/spyderco.html

The Manix 80mm is in production as we speak. Kinda like a Caly jr on steroids. Black G-10, full flat S30V, full skeletonized steel liners. Should be shipping in a couple of months.

That's great new Sal! You guys are moving in light-speed! I can remember handling the very first concept model at the A'dam preview show earlier this week.

Interesting news Sal, PLEASE say that, like it's big brother, it will be "dent-free". :D

I am just a bit puzzled by the choice of 80mm blade length. It makes the blade just long enough to cause hassles in 3" limit jurisdictions, yet does not seem to offer any real advantage over a 75~76mm, sub 3", blade. Not a biggie where I live, no size limit on my side of the river and 4" if I cross the bridge into "Albania", just seems it might limit the market unnecessarily.

What is the blade thickness going to be on the manix Jr? I hope it's 3mm rather then 4mm

then again if you got rid of all the reasons why I don't like the manix I'd have to lust after it

Holy Cripes, this is AWESOME news! i was hoping for the new Lil temp to come out but this Para-Manix is just about the perfect solution!

i would assume the Para-Manix will be just as stout with the MBC rated lock?

My wife just asked why I hollared "Oh yeah". I said "no reason Dear". She cannot understand a $100 knife. :D First the new ZDP blades now the mini Manix I am going to the poor house.

Para-Military is a 2/3 Military...
The Para is not the same knife. If it was just a scaled down Military I would have at least 3 of them.

mind explaining the difference other than lock and the fact that thickness is not proportionally scaled down?

The differance is the lock and the pivot pin,I don't care for either.

Sounds like exactly what I was looking for about 3 months ago, when I first got the Manix I ended up trading away (too big/heavy, but a beauty!). I wonder how heavy it will be compared to the Paramilitary (my current EDC, and perhaps a semi-permanent one)..?? Somewhat heavier, I would guess, with the liners.

Nothin' like G-10 for handle material :)

I'm also very interested in what the blade thickness will be on the mini. I'm very happy that the mini is coming out. The only real thing that's kept me away from the larger manix is the thick blade.
