My Manix is probably the hardest working folder I have. I mainly use either my Buck Cadet or a multitool for everyday tasks, and even my Native III only gets used to cut paper etc, no big tasks. I haven't abused my Manix, but I have used it a couple times. This isn't a dilemna, but it is a concern. I bought it slightly used from a member here, there was some blade play, and I tightened it up with an allen wrench. No problem. Use it around the house, outside etc, have to tighten it up about once a month. Again, no problem. Now, I'm using the correct size allen wrench, and the handle screw is close to being stripped. I have blade play, and while using it Sunday to carve a walking stick while taking a break on a hike, the blade was going up and down in the handle. It didn't feel like it was going to come apart in my hands, but it sure was unnerving. Now, tightening it up takes care of the problem, but could I be ruining this knife doing this every month? I'm not trying to cut cinder blocks, or using it to dig trenches, just simple cutting. Any advice is appreciated.

Blue threadlocker helps with this problem in my knives. It is good that you use the correct size allen key. (did you use the wrong ones before?) Perhaps ordering a new screw from Spyderco is in order. You may just want to disassemble it anyway for cleaning, lubrication, dusting, and just to see if there are any obstructions/verify the lock bar is engaging properly.

Hello,

Aren't the screws torx shape. More of a star shape than the hexagonal allen type? Torx are usually what Spyderco use... And yes, they could send you new screws, if you ask them politely!!!

I was quite embarassed when Spyderco told me that they are indeed T8 torx screws :o. They're sending me a pivot package in the mail. Thanks!
