I went out to Darrel's shop today to have him look over a piece I received. I snapped off a few shots to share.

This is a new variant of the Trigger. See anything different?

Here is a shot of two together. See it yet? Clue. They are very close together and I am shooting with a 60mm prime lens.

Check this out. Got it now? ("inserts are no longer in them" is not the correct answer)

Another? see it?

I remembered this time to take a shot of the MaxxQ. Gunhammer styled blade in G10 scaled contoured handles, liner lock instead of a frame lock. Very light. A very ergo design.

I saw this in process. An 18Xray with a blade blank in it. Darrel was checking out some adjustments to the pivot IIRC.

All 18Xrays have had the black blades in them; which is the military specification. I told him I thought the silver blade looks great in this one. That he should do a short run of uncoated blades. Also, it is hard to see in the pix. The handles have a new textured coating as opposed to the flat black coating on the original handles. I like it. They have an even better grip with the curent ergo shape and the new texture.

So! What do you all think? A short run of "civvie" hand rubbed uncoated blades is called for?
I vote YES!

For comparison, here is the black 18Xray.

Waiting for mine this week :D

As for the trigger, I think I prefer the old, slighty longer model.

Last but not least. Here is what I was showing Darrel. This is a Krait I just picked up from out very own Stabber. A very fine knife indeed. There is utterly nothing needing fixing up on this old school piece. I was thinking of swapping out the screws in the CF to blackened hardware, but I decided this one needs to remain in its original condition. Well, at least for now!

I hope Darrel will bring back a blade styled like the Krait ;) , but not EXACTLY like it ;) ;)

The blade is shorter. *Just* under 4" for legality...??!

Really cool stuff, Dan. DDR's shop never sleeps--always something cookin'. Thanks!

You got it cbrok. This variant has a significantly shorter blade. One thing very consistent in Darrel's designs is the blade length. He will install the absolutely longest blade possible his knives.

I wish I had a prize to give you, but I do not!!

By the way there's a mistake on DDR's website on the Trigger's specs.

Wich seems big to me on a 3 3/8" blade :P

LOL! DDR!! Take note.

The blade is already under 4" Coop. Good shot though. It was made on request. I don't know if there will be very many of these made. If anyone does want the shart bladed variant, you better ping DDR straight away.

I like the new Trigger with the 2.9 inch blade!! I am getting a green short bladed variant!!! Thanks for the pix!!
