Just got my Massad Ayoob model yesterday, and really like it. Anyone else carrying this model, what are your thoughts on it?

You kiddin' or what?
Mine lives in my front left pocket. Except of course when I use it to cut nearly everything from plants to steaks.:D
This baby is a truly outstanding utility tool. I know it was designed to do the self defense thing, but, if I used it strictly for that it would never get used. And this folder BEGS to be used.
It is one of the sharpest OOB folders I own. The edge geometry is absolutely second to none. The steel holds it's edge for a looong time. I've had mine several months, it sees cutting daily, it has not needed sharpening yet.
The Mas Ayoob model has the perfect forward cant for utility cutting. This folder can even be used in the kitchen with relative ease. Your knuckles don't bang the cutting board when processing veggies.:D

My one problem with this folder was the Almite coating was a bit too slick for me. I was given some rubber stairway traction tape by maddog 20/20(Thanks a Million, Ray!). I put it on the handle and this folder is now all that and a bag of chips too!

Thanks for the welcome.

BTW I noticed that (from reading various post) some people don't care fore the Almite coating. I have no problem with it. Secondly the placment of the clip IMHO is better then on my Endura, that is for concealment.

I like my Ayoob as a utility knife, too. I have no problems with the almite coating on the Ayoob since the handle design allows for a non-slip grip. The almite also makes the knife glide in and out of the pocket a little smoother than say, G-10? The design is not for everybody but I applaud Spyderco for manufacturing this knife knowing that a great number of people are not going to buy the knife. Just to let you know, Sal, some of us appreciate your efforts. :)

Welcome to the Forums Kevin!

Sorry man, I forgot to start my other post off with that.

And that is a shame. If more people tried it, I'm fairly certain it would catch on. This knife just plain ROCKS! The Ayoob looks purpose driven, but it excels in many other roles too. The more I use it, the more I love it. There may be another one in the near future for me so I can have right and left hand carry.
