I am wondering if any of the Forum members have had any experience with Meerdink Knives. I have seen their ads in magazines but am unable to find any web site for them.
I you have had (or do have) one of these knives, please give some feedback on them if you would. Thank you.

Well let's see, do I know anything about Meerdink knives?

Let's just say that I believe he will be one of the rising stars in the very near future. He has gotten a bunch of magazine write up's lately, and they are all in agreement that his work is excellent.

He apprenticed under Bud Nealy for a number of years, and we all know that Bud's work is first rate.

He grinds all his own blades and makes Fighters, Hunters, Neck Knives, Camp Knives and is even collaborating with other custom makers.

My own take on his work is that one day I hope that I can get my grinds as nice and my fit and finish as clean. He works mainly in ATS 34, but also will use D2, L6, BG 42, etc.

Finish work is hand rubbed.

Heat treating is done by Paul Bos and everyone know about Paul's work, so I don't have to comment further on that.

Handle materials range from Micarta & G-10 to Stag and exotic bones and woods.

He makes his own Kydex sheaths and also is making some for other makers. Fit and finish of the sheaths is excellent.

He takes great pride in his work and backs it up. He believes that you should be able to trust your life on one of his knives.

His prices are very reasonable and his workmanship is better than many well known makers that are charging 2-3 times more for their knives.

He does not have a computer (even though I am trying to convince him that he should).

How do I know all of this about him? Well let's just say that I have an "inside scoop" and also let me say that he is one of the nicest people I know and will go out of his way to make his customers happy.

Anyone interested in obtaining one of his knives can give him a call (just try to not keep him on the phone all day, he has a lot of orders to fill). Contact info is Kurt Meerdink - Knifemaker, 914-557-0783.

Hope this helps.

What Jailhack says, I have seen Kurt's knives first hand and it is good stuff! He is always very pleasant and polite to speak with.

Jailhack's got the right of it. Kurt's been making really great knives for quite a while. He's an avid outdoorsman and makes great knives for hunting and fishing. I have some of his earlier stuff and all I can say is that he's only gotten better. He was at the last ECCKS show. No table he just came by to see the show. Also a really nice guy. For instant gratification you can try Joe Tarbell he stocks Kurt's stuff.

You may want to check with our own Les Robertson, I think he has Meerdink's in stock.

you can try JT's Knife shop in Port Jervis,NY. He stocks Meerdinks and is the exclusive dealer of certain designs. His prices on Meerdink are good. Personally I thought his prices were high on other knives but not the Meerdinks.
JT's advertises in Blade.
