If you are outside of the US and are having trouble joining up, I would suggest that you do as I did and just ring your details through. I just rang and spoke to Kevin and my membership was fixed up in 5 minutes.
If you have your c/c handy, it dosn't take very long on the phone, and it saves a lot of trouble. :)

Ahhhh Doug, I wish I were as rich as you and could afford these international phone calls. ;)
