Got some ladder the other day. What grit do you guys grind this stuff to before the final finish? Then what is the best way to get the pattern developed? I'm assuming 1/4 strength ferric, followed by a light sanding with 1500 grit paper on a flat stiff block to highlight and then another soak in the ferric and 1500 to highlight????

I went with 400 grit and the results were pretty good. After the etch I buffed it out with green ScotchBrite and it looked like 3D, cool effect. It was first and only time working with it though, I'm sure some of the other guys here have more info they can give you.

There's a pic of it here-

I've only used it once, but the way I finished it was to take it to 800 grit and etch for about 10 minutes in 50% ferric chloride. It turned out OK, but others may have more experience with it.
