Military older versus newer version??

I did a search on the question I am about to ask, and could not find an answer in the latest archive so thought I would ask here.
I, and my wife each have 1 each plain, and 1 serrated of the older version Military with the etched markings on the blades, and had the older chrome clips(til I updated with black ones).
The other day I bought a serrated Military from a copshop that is closing up for $78(only one he had), and I know it is the newer version with the word Military highlighted in black, and has different scallops(higher compared to my older models) on the blade.

Now to the question:

I know my older versions have the higher RC rating on the blades, and the newer has the lower rating(55-57).
Has anyone over the period of time had both the older, and newer versions noticed any difference in edgeholding with the lower rating?? Or is it so slight that you can't tell the difference. I know the reason was because many people were complaining of chipping of the edge that they changed to the lower RC rating, but my wife nor I have never had that problem with ours(luckily have not hit staples, etc.), and really like how the older models hold a great edge, and stay sharp as heck with little or no touchup very often.

Just curious whether I will notice the difference, and will have to touchup the edge more often the newer version I have.

I really like 440-v steel, and have some other knives in it including customs, but have never had any with the lower RC rating before.

Any input would be greatly appreciated as to what to expect from this newer version.

Thanks
:)

I think Sal himself posted on this issue some time ago. Apparently Spyderco's cpm440v has ALWAYS been treated to the "lower" Rc level, the "higher" Rc level was just a publication misprint in the beginning.

I did alot of research using the "search" feature on here as well as the forum on Spyderco.com's forum, and all I could find was all the changes on the different versions, and what Sal had said was changed on the various models, but di not find out anything on the change in the RC of the blades from the earlier models to the present models. All I remember reading in the past that he had dropped the RC on the later models because of complaints of chipping, etc.
Anyway only time will tell by my comparing my earlier Militaries to the newer version I just got.

Thanks for your help, and input.

Larry, I'm slightly confused. Are you comparing the ATS-34 blade material vs the 440V? Or the original 440V vs a newer 440V with a higher RC rating than the original (440V)? Just a matter of clarification. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the answer to your question in either case.

I was wanting a camparison of the early versions of 440-V with the 57-59 Rc to the later versions with 55-57 RC.
Was just curious if edgeholding of the lower RC versions were noticeable to the older higher RC versions.
Guess I will know in time as I use my newer version I received.
Not a major deal, just curiousity:)
I know even my Larry Chew D/A Covert with 440V that I got from Larry Chew last Spring at the Oregon Knife Show is made at 57RC according to Larry so as not to chip easily, but he says will hold a good edge.

Thanks for the input.
