I am wanting to mill out a guard the stock
is 1/8 inch I want to mill slightly under
an 1/8 to get a good fit.is there mills
out there that are under sized for this purpose

You can get 7/64" from MSC. That would be about 16 thousandths smaller than 1/8".You might be able to get a metric end mill just a little closer to 1/8".

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Ahhh, the cool stuff you learn from off the top of the head comments by the pro's.

I never would have thought of that method, as obvious as it seems.

If you are using a drill and file method, I bet it still works when you end up over filing too!
