Well my Ron Reil designed mini-forge is nearing completion. I can't wait to start it up. I know a lot of people are now making these, thanks to Ron Reil's help I feel perfectly capable of designing my own forges now. Next will be a full sized forge though I may have to wait a bit. -Guy Thomas

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Michael that is two layers of 1" thick 2700 degree rated kaowool. I have some ITC-100, which is a radiant heat blocker, to coat the wool with. It should act as an extra inch of insulation and more importantly it stabilizes the ceramic fibers so they don't pose as much of a health hazard.
I've been taking some ribbing about how nice I've made it. Hopefully it will hold up for a while. Unfortunately I only get an hour or two a week to work on it so it is progressing at a snails pace! Admittedly the file work on the brass handle was a bit much, but it seemed like a nice piece to practice on!
