SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!....did ya hear that? OUT of the park!

I love my full size manix, so I may be biased in reporting...

this new version is simply great. The QC is second to none. No blade play, I mean NO blade play, smooth opening, snappy lock, great redesigned thumb ramp, smaller, lighter carry...the edge is sick sharp...testing it against my fingerprint (my standard test) gave me a queasy feeling b/c it was so sharp...very nicely done.

can't wait to test it outdoors this weekend.

If you (or anyone else who replies to the thread) have a Paramilitary to compare it to, I'm really interested in those opinions. I had a Manix, loved it, but decided it was too heavy and too big for my uses. I love the Paras that I have, especially because they're relatively light (weight) but tough. Lockbacks are my preference usually, though, so I'm especially interested in the weight, size, etc. comparisons :)

I should have my 80mm manix on Monday, I bought it with the intention of replacing my para mil so I will let ya know what I think. I love the para but the grip and blade shape of the smaller manix may put it away...

Post some pictures, please please please...

Next to a Persian or a Paramilitary would be excellent

OK, now I am seriously thinking about getting one to replace my para-milie for EDC. I've been a big fan of frontlock.

Anyone have a pic of the manix and mini manix side by side?

Can somebody please take exact measurements of the blade?
I have my doubts about the “80mm”.
Thank you,
Regards,
FRIZ

It looks like a rounded off Manix handle with a LIl' Temperance blade. So I imagine the tip would be stronger.

sorry no pics.
update: there is vertical play in the "upward" direction, so that you feel it when cutting into something. It feels that the tang is shifting the lockworks. Interestingly, the mini-m that does this has this quirk...the lock does not sit flush against the tang...the lock bar is a smidge raised while locked up. I am curious as to whether it will seat itself as it wears. So, I plan on using it for a spell before a trip to the spydie spa. The other one I have does sit flush, so I will have to test it for vertical play.

The ergos, for me are ideal: the knife just locks into your hand, although the edges feel kinda "sharp".

This is a small Manix, but not a small knife...it is comparable to a full size griptilian.

That small vertical play is inherent to the lockback design, apparently. It's been true for me, at least, every Spydie lockback I own has had that small vertical play.

interestingly, the repair shop eliminated the play out of my Manix...

Ok, just got my 80mm and first of all. Mini is not a word to describe this knife. It is heavier and wider and thicker then the para military. I like the handle ergos very much, very comfy and very slip resistant. I can't detect any play in the blade and opening is quite smooth. I am not entirely sure that this one is going to replace my para only because of the extra weight and the fact that if I need a knife this burly I will carry my busse basic three. It is a very nice knife and if you want a hard use folder in a reasonable size and price I think this would fit the bill. We'll see how it works out. Oh yeah, like some other spydies the handle feels bigger then it needs to be for the blade, this probably has a lot to do with the great ergos but seems a bit strange.
