i am looking for a smaller EDC

i have recently taken interest in the mini socom, and have also seen the MOD small tactical (online), and they seem very similar.

anybody have any experience with them that can add some input?

how do they lock up?

how do they perform?

also - does anybody know who carries the microtech mini socom elite ma??

thanks in advance

mod and microtech are very simular in quaity. The mini socom elite m/a has not been released yet and is a frame lock so it should have a real solid lock up.
I'm not sure wich mod you are refering to but I think I have saw a new line I'm not to impresed with.
The old mini socom is a great user and can be bought very cheap.
Hope this helps.

lol, i thought you were talking about the video game for the sony playstation 2

I have never handled a MOD knife but I can vouch for my Mini SOCOM. It is a great knife but not a knife for people with large hands.

I was debating between to the two 6 months ago and compared both side by side. Both were just the "right" size for me and both were of high quality. I ended up picking the mini socom over the MOD because the mini had a slightly thinner blade which I prefered. I've been using the mini ever since and very pleased with it. If the MoD was thinner I would have had a tough choice.

I don't have experience with that particular MOD but I can say that the two companies are very similar in quality and design. I would pick the mini Socom though as I like the aluminum handle and the kraton inlays are well done. I can't wait for the framelock.

The Mini Socom is one of the best knives that I own. The heat treatment on MT blades offers the best edge holding ability that 154CM can provide. The liner lock on mine can withstand the spine whack test repeatedly and the fit and finish is perfect. I have always wanted one to be a little bigger and now my wish has come true in the form of the Mini Socom Elite. I just wish it would hit the market, and soon!
